A 27-member scientific crew from Chennai-based National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, created history in April this year conducting world’s deepest underwater locomotion trials of an indigenously developed seabed crawler based mining machine at Central Indian Ocean Basin.
