The Union Budget 2021 announced Rs 50,000 crore in budget for National Research Foundation for the period of five years. This will focus on the national priority thrust areas.

The idea is to promote research and development and spur innovation in the country.

In addition, around Rs 1500 crore is earmarked for financial incentive for making payments in digital mode. The new initiative National Language Translation Mission, will translate governance and policy related documents available online to major Indian languages.
