Shri Uday Mahurkar CIC commissioner , author and historian presided during the Samanvaya conclave 4.0 and presented his talk on the subject “Diversity : Boon or bane” . present below are some excerpts in his own words..

“While speaking on ‘ India’s Diversity: Boon or Bane’ i said celebration of diversity can’t be a one-way traffic & can’t be allowed to be used as a loaded gun to thrust alien ideologies on the nation.

I raised 6 major points while speaking under aegis of Samanvay Centre for Policy Implementation & Governance Research as part of Samanvay Conclave-Four :

1. One of India’s main strengths for which India is respected across globe is its unity in diversity but its celebration comes with riders.

2. While Akbar is projected as symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity in Indian schools he is a much hated figure in radical Wahabi Muslim Madrasas. This is unacceptable in name of diversity.

3. India gave Padma Vibhushan to Maulana Wahidduddin for his so-called inclusive approach to Hindu-Muslim problem but his son Zafar ul Islam considers poet Mohammed Iqbal , the true father of Pakistan, & Islamic preacher Shah Waliullah who invited Afghan invader Ahmedshah Abdali to invade India, as 2 of his heroes. This is unacceptable in name of diversity .

4. A book called Taqwiat ul Iman which preaches Wahabi Muslims against customs of religions other than Islam & virtually condemns Hindu religion & is almost a stepping stone to Muslim separatism , is taught in all Wahabi Madrassas in India. This is unacceptable in name of diversity.

5. A section of those who opposed CAA & took part in Shahinbag protests are also behind encouragement to Rohingias to settle in India & influence demographic changes in favour of Muslim community. This is unacceptable in name of diversity.

6. An honest investigation should done to find out as to how inclusive was nationalist leader Abul Kalam Azad as he condemned emperor Akbar & praised radical Muslim Maulvis like Shah Valiullah, who caused the 3rd Battle of Panipat, & Shah Ismail, who wrote the separatist book Taqwiat ul Iman, in his Arabic & Urdu writings.

I said i have audio graphic evidence to prove that Azad was a friend of many radical Islamic preachers & helped their organisations .”.
